When can I access my storage unit?

You can access your storage unit as often as you like any time between 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 3pm Saturday. For a small additional fee, access outside of these times is available. Please contact us to arrange this for you.

What security features do you have?

Storage By The Fox staff are on site from 8.30 to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 3pm Saturday. We undertake daily site inspections that includes lock integrity. External lighting and secure perimeter fencing provide additional security to the property.

What is the minimum storage period I can pay for?

One month is the minimum storage period.

What size are your units?

With over 100 undercover storage units available, we have a range of unit sizes to meet every need. Our units have a generous height of 3m, making best use of all possible space. You can use our space calculator to see how much space you’ll need.

Are my goods insured?

NO. We do not insure your items in storage, but we strongly recommend you consider appropriate insurance cover. Not all household insurance will cover your goods, that is why we have an arrangement with Midland Insurance Brokers. You can have cover for as low as $1.10 per $1000 worth of goods to be covered. Please take the time to read the product information attached, and contact us if you have any further questions.

How do you charge me?

Storage is charged on a monthly basis, in advance. You will pay for your first month’s storage on or before the day you move in. You will continue to be charged storage fees on a monthly basis on the anniversary of your move in date until you advise us that you are planning to move out. Alternatively, we can set up automatic payments from your nominated account.

Can I pay for more than one month?

Yes, we welcome payments of more than one month in advance.

How far in advance can I book a storage unit?

We accept bookings 14 days in advance.

Can I move out of my storage space before the end of my rental term?

We do not ask you to commit to a finish date when you sign up with Storage By The Fox. We will continue to charge storage fees on a monthly basis until you give us 28 days notice of your intention to move out.

Can I transfer to a different sized storage space?

Yes, of course. One of the benefits of using self storage is that you should only pay for the space that you need. Transferring to a better sized unit can be easily arranged with our staff and your rent will be adjusted accordingly.

I no longer require my storage unit. What do I need to do?

Please provide us with at least 28 days notice of your intention to move out. We expect that you will leave your unit completely empty, clean and tidy with all rubbish removed. After you have moved out, we will inspect your vacant unit. Assuming all is in order, your security deposit will be refunded within 30 days of your move out date.

I no longer require my storage unit. What do I need to do?

Do you help me move my items into the storage unit?

We provide complimentary use of trolleys for customers to move their stuff from their vehicles to their unit.

Who has access to my self storage unit?

Only those people you choose can access your unit. Our customers bring their own locks for their self storage units, and hold the keys. We do not hold keys or copies of keys. This ensures that you keep total control over who has access to your unit. We have padlocks for sale in our Box Shop.

Who can enter Storage By The Fox?

Only customers and staff have access to our property.

If we run out of space, what options do we have?

If you run out of space, you can either transfer your goods into a larger unit, or you can take a second storage unit out under your name. You will need to complete a new storage agreement for the new unit.

What is the minimum storage period?

The minimum storage period is one month.

How can I get my stuff to the storage centre?

We provide move-in trailers at no charge and we can organise removalist with our Removals By The Fox company.

How does billing work?

We work from a monthly renewable contract, so this means you will automatically be billed for the next month when your rent expires.

Can we have access outside the advertised hours?

Yes, you can speak to the Centre Manager concerned and an arrangement may be agreed upon depending on the circumstances. A fee may apply for a longer period of extended access.

How much time do you need to give when moving out?

As stated in the terms and conditions in your storage agreement states that you must give not less than twenty eight (28) days notice of your intention to move out.

Do you have a key for this unit?

No. Self-storage means that you pack your unit with your goods, you lock the unit with your own padlock and hold the key. The centre staff do not hold the key to your storage space.

What size are the spaces?

Storage By The Fox have a wide variety of spaces from lockers and garage size units right up to mini warehouses. Explore our range of sizes to learn more.

What if I choose the wrong size?

With Storage By The Fox you have the “risk free” reserve. If it’s not the right size when you arrive we’ll find you a suitable alternative.

Who else has access?

With self storage you control the access and you keep the key. Only those you provide access to will be given access.

Are my goods insured?

Not by default. While we do everything we can there can be no guarantees in life, and for this reason, if you want your goods insured you can choose to get insurance either through Storage By The Fox or a company of your choice. Visit our insurance page to learn more.

What happens if I do not pay my rent?

Rent is paid monthly in advance. If rent is not paid according to the Terms of the Storage Agreement we may be forced to sell the contents of the storage unit. We will do everything we can do to prevent this and you should contact us immediately so that we can resolve the matter promptly.
